Digipaks in Popular Culture

Digipaks are a form of promotion for the CD single/album inside. Therefore it is extremely important that the digipak is enticing and stands out, as well as creating some meaning for the audience in showing them and giving them clues on what the album is about, or common themes in it, through the artwork.

In popular culture, music is a very big thing, people often like having a physical copy of an album they can hold rather than one that's purely on their computers. I do think digipaks will eventually cease to exist due to technology advancing in such major ways, however for now they are definitely still popular and definitely a way to entice an audience into buying the album.

Some artists go down an artistic route with their digipaks, using the image to create meaning, whilst others simply have a photo of themselves on the cover. I prefer the artistic images as they are far more original than just having a photo of the artist on the cover.
